So, what is 'becoming your own banker' all about? The concept comes from a book written by Nelson Nash called Becoming Your Own Banker. The current monetary regime of lending instutions is where most of us go to get our money to buy the things we need like cars and homes. We get a loan from a lender and then we make the payments back to the lender with interest. Since the average debt load of Americans is astronomical the volume of interest, not the rate, the volume Americans are paying to lenders is about 34 cents of every dollar earned. Include a 30 percent tax on each dollar and inflation and you can see why many Americans are struggling today. Becoming Your Own Banker teaches you a different way to run your finances. One where you profit and not the lending institutions.

For those outside the United States, except Canadians, I wish there existed mutual, dividend-paying, whole life insurance companies that people could use to 'become their own bankers' but as far as I know they don't exist. If that's not true, let me know.
